As summer approaches, Phoenix Children's raises awareness of outdoor safety

Health and safety information for families

It's a familiar scene in the Valley during the region's warm months: bicyclists enjoying a leisurely ride, families splashing in backyard pools, and outdoor enthusiasts taking advantage of the desert and mountain hiking trails.

Most of these activities end as innocently and uneventfully as they began. Unfortunately, accidents and injuries happen. Whether it's a bug bite, dehydration or even a drowning, families should know simple steps that can be taken to avoid these and other outdoor recreation hazards.

Phoenix Children's Hospital is at the forefront of efforts to inform the community on the dangers associated with common summertime activities.
