A drug is a medicine (not food) used to prevent, diagnose, treat, or cure disease. A vitamin is a substance that is needed to live. Vitamins are found in very small amounts in food. If a person does not get enough of a specific vitamin, he or she becomes sick with a vitamin deficiency disease.
