Brain Injury
When the brain is hurt, it is called a brain injury. Any trauma that leads to an injury of the scalp, skull, or brain is called a head injury. In a closed head injury, the brain is hurt when it smashes into the inside of the skull when the moving head suddenly stops. In a penetrating head injury, a fast-moving object breaks through the skull and enters the brain.
