Antibiotics for Stem Cell Transplant Patients

Antibiotics treat bacterial infections in stem cell transplant patients at Phoenix Children's Hospital.

Patients are given antibiotics to either prevent a bacterial infection or treat a known or suspected infection.

For example, a patient may take Bactrim to prevent an infection (prophylaxis), but then be started on Zosyn, Tobramycin, and Vancomycin once a fever occurs and infection is suspected.

Please contact us if you have questions about antibiotics, other medications or anything else related to the stem cell transplant process.
