Personal Belonging Guidelines for Stem Cell Transplant Patients
Personal belongings help make a child's stay at Phoenix Children's Hospital more comfortable while here for a stem cell transplant.
However, some guidelines are needed for the safety of patients, visitors and staff:
- Clean toys and books before bringing them into the transplant room. Even new items should be cleaned.
- Personal stuffed animals are allowed only if they can be laundered. (Laundering is done by placing the stuffed animal in the dryer and running it on high for 15 minutes.)
- Patient and family belongings need to be kept in order and placed in the cabinets inside the patient room as much as possible. This allows the environmental services staff to thoroughly clean the room, as they may not move personal items. It also makes it easier for the staff to have easier access to the patient.
Please contact us if you have questions about personal belonging guidelines related to the stem cell transplant process.
