Complex Congenital Heart Follow-Up Programs
The philosophy of the Children's Heart Center at Phoenix Children's Hospital is to provide exceptional family-centered care to patients and families. Our interdisciplinary team is dedicated to promoting and supporting the individual needs of each child and family in a caring and child-friendly environment.
In every way, the Children's Heart Center is a comprehensive center of excellence that coordinates all of the programs and services involved in the post-care of children who have undergone surgical procedures for congenital heart disease. The continuum of care begins with neonates with our fetal cardiology program and continues into young adulthood. We provide complex congenital heart follow-up programs including:
CHIEF
The Phoenix Children’s Medical Group Complex Congenital Heart Infant Evaluation and Follow-Up Program (CHIEF) is designed to monitor infants born with complex heart defects that require a series of heart surgeries. CHIEF is one of only a handful of programs in the country that focuses on interstage mortality and optimizing growth and nutrition for high-risk infants.
Single Ventricle and Shunt Follow-up Program
Additionally, Arizona Pediatric Cardiology Consultants (APCC) within our Children's Heart Center operate a unique program providing comprehensive follow-up care for children with complex congenital heart disease who have undergone heart procedures to repair defects. APCC cardiologists monitor patients throughout their course of treatment, ensuring parents and the referring pediatrician are kept updated on all steps of recovery.
