ECMO Team and Leadership

Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, or ECMO, is a specialty within our Critical Care department.

The ECMO team caring for your child is made up of a neonatologist or an intensivist, surgeon, ECMO primer, ECMO specialist, ICU nurses and respiratory therapists.

Under the direction of Dr. Heidi Dalton, the ECMO team at Phoenix Children’s has built up an excellent reputation (a two-time recipient as “Center of Excellence” in Extracorporeal Life Support) as being one of the largest ECMO units in the state.
