Center for Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery

Phoenix Children's is dedicated to offering the most comprehensive and state of the art care for children's orthopaedic and musculoskeletal disorders. The Hospital is a statewide referral center for pediatric and adolescent bone and joint problems.
One of the highlights in orthopaedic surgery at Phoenix Children's Hospital is the spinal fusion program that offers patients and parents to pre-operatively tour the hospital, ask questions, and interact with former patients and staff prior to undergoing surgery for scoliosis and spinal deformity. This has been a major factor in improving preoperative worry, post operative care, and overall recovery in these special kids.
In the coming years, the Hospital will expand our pediatric orthopaedic program in response to the growing need for services in Arizona. Until now, the Hospital has relied on its strong community partnerships for pediatric orthopaedic services, but it is starting to recruit its own doctors and nurses specialized in pediatric orthopaedics. Additionally, Phoenix Children's will grow existing programs in pediatric hip conditions and musculoskeletal tumors and add services in trauma, sports medicine, and upper extremity conditions.
In 2007, Phoenix Children’s hired Lee Segal, MD, to serve as Division Chief of Pediatric Orthopaedics and the Herbert J. Louis, MD, Endowed Chair of Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery. He will direct the program growth, enabling the Hospital to offer a broader range of services and bring more opportunities for research and teaching in orthopaedics to the state.
