Plastic Surgery
The Department of Plastic Surgery provides children and teens reconstructive or corrective surgery to improve the appearance and/or formation of children with cleft lip and palate, as well as more complex structural abnormalities of the head and face, trauma and burns, scars, and lesions of the skin. Our goal is to provide each child the opportunity for an attractive appearance, healthy teeth, intact hearing, understandable speech and a normal transition to adult social functioning.

Most common plastic surgeries performed:
- Cleft lip repair/nasal repair: A surgical procedure to correct a groove like defect in the lip that can extend to the nose.
- Cleft palate repair: Surgical procedure to correct a groove like defect inside the mouth.
- Oral and maxillofacial surgery: A surgical procedure to correct a wide spectrum of diseases, injuries and defects in the head, neck, face, jaws and the hard and soft tissues of the oral and maxillofacial region.
- Pharyngeal flap surgery: A surgical procedure to develop a functional seal between the nasal cavity and the oral cavity, correcting the airflow during speech.
- Skin Graft: A transplantation of skin from one body part to another.
- Wound repair and debridement: A surgical procedure to clean and repair a wound.
