Pediatric Interventional Radiology Center
Phoenix Children's Hospital has launched the state's only dedicated pediatric interventional radiology facility. The Center for Pediatric Interventional Radiology (CPIR) provides a full menu of state-of-the-art, minimally invasive vascular and non-vascular, image-guided diagnostic procedures for children of all ages, including newborns.
Staffed by pediatric interventional technologists, nurses, and two full-time pediatric-trained interventional radiologists with a combined experience of 35 years in the field, CPIR completes procedures without open surgery, reducing morbidity and mortality, lowering costs, and making recovery faster and more comfortable. CPIR uses the latest diagnostic and radiological equipment with features exclusively for the pediatric patient, making them safe for use on even the smallest child.
Led by renowned pediatric radiologist Richard Towbin, MD, chief of radiology at Phoenix Children's Hospital, the medical team specially trained to work with youths administers minimally invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in an environment that promotes healing and wellness in a fashion only a children's hospital can.
Providing coverage 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and 365 days a year, CPIR is the only dedicated pediatric interventional radiology center in the Southwest area that includes Arizona, Nevada, and New Mexico.
