Meet the Pediatric Kidney Transplant Physicians

 

Bruce Morgenstern

Bruce Morgenstern, Pediatric Kidney Transplant Physician

Dr. Morgenstern received his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, Pa. He completed his pediatric residency at Long Island Jewish Hospital, New Hyde Park, N.Y. His pediatric nephrology training was done at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children in Philadelphia. He has been at Phoenix Children’s Hospital as a Pediatric Nephrologist since 2004.

 

Dr. Morgenstern serves as division chair for the department of Pediatric Nephrology and served as an immediate past president of the medical staff at Phoenix Children’s Hospital. He also is the medical director of the renal transplant program as well as the medical director of the peritoneal dialysis program.

 

Dr. Morgenstern is ABMS Board Certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Nephrology.

 

Dr. Morgenstern’s professional affliations are: Hypertension (Specialist in Clinical Hypertension), American Society of Hypertension, International Pediatric Hypertension Association (former member of their Executive Committee), American Socety of Pediatric Nephrology (Former member of their Executive Council); Past President, Council on Medical Student Education in Pediatrics; Member - International Society of Nephrology; American Society of Nephrology; International Society for Peritoneal Dialysis; American Society of Transplantation; American Society of Hypertension Professor of Clinical Pediatrics, University of Arizona College of Medicine

 

 

Mark Joseph

Mark Joseph, Pediatric Kidney Transplant Physician

Dr. Joseph received his medical degree from the University of Arizona. He completed his pediatric residency at Phoenix Children's Hospital/Maricopa Medical Center. His pediatric nephrology training was done at Children's Hospital and Medical Center and the University of Washington in Seattle, WA. He has been at Phoenix Children's Hospital as a Pediatric Nephrologist since 1997. Dr. Joseph serves as co-chair for the American Society of Prediatric Nephrology Practice Management Task Force. He is a current member of the medical review board for the regional ESRD Network. He is the current medical director for both the hemodialysis program and the CRRT program at Phoenix Children's Hospital. He has been involved in the care of pediatric transplant patients since 1994.

 

Dr. Joseph is ABMS Board Certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Nephrology.

 

Dr. Joseph’s professional affliations are: American Society of Pediatric Nephrology, Renal Physicians Association, American Society of Nephrology, International Society of Pediatric Nephrology.

 

 

Stephanie Hsieh

Stephanie Hsieh, Pediatric Kidney Transplant Physician

Dr. Hsieh received her medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine, Boston, MA. She completed her pediatric residency at St. Louis Children’s Hospital, St. Louis, MO. Dr. Hsieh completed her fellowship training at Children’s Hospital and Regional Medical Center, Seattle, WA. She has been at Phoenix Children’s Hospital since 2005.

 

Dr. Hsieh is ABMS Board Certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Nephrology.

 

Professional affliations are: American Academy of Pediatrics; American Society for Pediatric Nephrology International Pediatric Nephrology Association; American Society of Nephrology

 

Dr. Hsieh currently heads up the Nephrology research program.

 

 

Karen Papez

Karen Papez, Pediatric Kidney Transplant Physician


Dr. Papez received her medical degree from the University of Nevada School of Medicine – Reno, NV. She completed her residency program here in Phoenix at Phoenix Children’s Hospital and Maricopa Medical Center. She completed her fellowship training at the University of Michigan Medical Center – Ann Arbor, MI. She has been at Phoenix Children’s since 2007 and involved in the care of pediatric transplant patients since 2003.

 

Dr. Papez served as Chief Resident at Phoenix Children’s Hospital/Maricopa Medical Center Pediatrics Residency Program during her residency.

 

Professional affliations are: American Academy of Pediatrics; American Society for Pediatric Nephrology International Pediatric Nephrology Association; American Society of Nephrology

 

Dr. Papez has research interest in the following areas: Acute Renal Failure in Infants; Dialysis in Infants; Acute Renal Failure after Cardiac Surgery; and Renal Replacement in the Intensive Care Unit

 

Dr. Papez is Board Certified in Pediatrics and Board Eligible in Pediatric Nephrology.
