3rd Annual Children’s March on Child Abuse at Phoenix Zoo – April 7th

PHOENIX, Ariz. (February 10, 2012) In Arizona, approximately one in four girls and one in six boys will be sexually abused by the age of 18, according to the Arizona Department of Health. In 2010, 70 children died from child abuse in Arizona. At Phoenix Children’s in 2011, there were 680 reports to Child Protective Services. The statistics are alarming and growing. Far too often, abused children’s footsteps are silent.
Put your best foot forward and join Phoenix Children's Child Abuse Prevention program as they walk to raise funds to support families and safeguard children. Join us Saturday, April 7th from 6:30 to 7:30 am for the Third Annual Children's March at the Phoenix Zoo.
This year's walk will cover a 1.1-mile path around the animal park. There are some shaded areas along the walk route; strollers, wheelchairs and wagons are allowed or, once inside the zoo, may be rented, along with electric scooters. Pre-registration is required and cost is $40 per walker.
Teams with five or more may register at a discounted rate of $30 per person. Children between the ages of 4-12 years of age are $10 and children under four are free. Walkers will be able to spend the day at the Zoo, visiting with animals, until close provided they wear their Children's March bracelet issued at registration. Get your walking shoes on, and get ready to hit the pavement for a fun filled day.
Together we can save lives one step at a time. Take the first step and register today!

About Phoenix Children’s Hospital
Phoenix Children’s Hospital is Arizona’s only licensed children’s hospital, providing world-class care in more than 40 pediatric specialties to children from throughout the state and region. Phoenix Children’s is one of the ten largest freestanding children’s hospitals in the country and is in the midst of a major expansion to meet the needs of the Southwest’s rapid population growth. The signature element of the expansion is a new 11-story, 750,000-square-foot tower which will enable the hospital to grow from 345 licensed beds today to a total of 626 licensed beds once the project is complete. The hospital’s expansion also includes an aggressive physician recruitment effort and new satellite centers in high growth areas of the Valley.
