Phoenix Children’s Hospital Opens Scottsdale Location for Specialty, Urgent Care

Phoenix Children’s Hospital announced the addition of a Scottsdale Center to its growing list of neighborhood locations providing specialty and urgent care. A Grand Opening Family Festival for the new Scottsdale Center will take place on Saturday, June 16th from 8 am to 11 am. Festivities include an exclusive performance by the Scottsdale Children’s Choir, special remarks from Scottsdale Mayor Jim Lane and Phoenix Children’s Hospital patients, face painting, tours of the new facility and much more.

Radio Disney AM 1580 will be powering the fun at the Phoenix Children’s Hospital Scottsdale Center Grand Opening Celebration. Bring the whole family and join the Road Crew for games, dancing, prizes and all your favorite Radio Disney music. Kids can bring along their favorite toy or stuffed animal for a “check-up” at the Doc McStuffin’s station and even get a finger cast made.

The 6,000 sq. ft. center, located in on the Northeast corner of Scottsdale Rd and Shea Blvd., 6990 E. Shea Blvd., will open on June 18th, 2012. The Scottsdale Center will complement children’s health care services already in the community with comprehensive specialty and subspecialyy care on weekdays by appointment and advanced pediatric urgent care with no appointment needed on nights and weekends.

“We welcome Phoenix Children’s Hospital to our Scottsdale community,” said Scottsdale Mayor Jim Lane. “It’s a great addition to our existing pediatric services and strengthens Scottsdale as a center for medical services and research.  We appreciate their interest in serving our citizens and investing in our community.”

Phoenix Children’s will offer a range of pediatric specialties and services by appointment at the Scottsdale Center, including Cardiology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Nephrology, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Orthopaedics/Sports Medicine, Pulmonology, Speech Therapy and Urology. On nights and weekends, Urgent Care services will be administered by physicians and nurses who have advanced training in both emergency and pediatric medicine.

The Scottsdale Center will feature ten exam rooms, one treatment room and one radiology/fluoroscopy suite. Diagnostic services will include X-rays, EKGs, echocardiograms, ultrasound, laboratory/point of care testing, pulmonary function testing and swallowing function studies (modified barium swallows).

“The Phoenix Children’s Scottsdale Center is an important part of enhancing our geographic delivery network, bringing our breadth and depth of subspecialty pediatric clinical expertise to families who need us,” said Robert L. Meyer, president and CEO of Phoenix Children’s.

The Phoenix Children’s Scottsdale Center is the latest in a series of neighborhood centers the hospital has established to bring care closer to home for families who live further from the main campus. The hospital currently operates an East Valley Center at Southern and Higley in Mesa and a Northwest Valley Center at 51st Ave., north of Loop 101. Another is slated to open next year in Avondale at 99th Ave. and McDowell.
