Pita Jungle to Sell Artwork Created by Patients at Phoenix Children’s Hospital
Phoenix, Ariz. (Dec. 9, 2011) – From December 10th-31st, Pita Jungle locations across the Valley will begin exhibiting framed artwork created by patients at the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Phoenix Children’s Hospital.
All proceeds from the artwork will benefit the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, the largest pediatric program of its kind in Arizona, providing complete care for children diagnosed with malignancies and/or life-threatening hematologic diseases.
On Thursday, Dec. 15th from 5 – 7:30 p.m., there will be a special ceremony for the young artists at the Pita Jungle Downtown Phoenix located at 3rd Street and Roosevelt.
This family-friendly event will include a chance to meet some of these young artists and hear them talk about their artwork. Pita Jungle will be offering complimentary light appetizers.
The framed artwork is part of the Hospital’s Children’s Art Project program, which was created more than two decades ago. The program is not only meant to support children diagnosed with cancer, it also gives patients a creative outlet - a project they can take part in that helps take their mind off of their illness and treatment.
The Phoenix Children’s Art Project is the largest annual fundraiser for the Center, providing funds that help our patients and families with financial assistance, child enrichment programs, psychosocial support, college scholarships, and Camp Rainbow, a weeklong camp experience for patients diagnosed with cancer.
The artwork will be available at the following Pita Jungle locations beginning December 10th: Arcadia (44th Street & Indian School), Chandler (Ray Rd. & Dobson), Downtown Phoenix (3rd & Roosevelt), Mesa (Southern & Dobson), Scottsdale (Scottsdale Rd. & Shea) and Tempe (Apache & Dorsey). Each location will show a sample of six different art pieces from these young artists. For a $150 tax deductible donation, guests can purchase this unique artwork to be displayed in at home or in the office.
