At Phoenix Children's Hospital we understand that hospitalization can be difficult and confusing. That's why we provide many hospitality services and amenities to make your stay more comfortable.
Patient rooms have a bathroom, telephone, and television. Most rooms have a sleeper chair so one adult family member to stay overnight with his or her child.
Rooms may also be available at the Ronald McDonald House, which is located just a few miles from the Hospital. Families must live at least 30 miles from the Hospital to be eligible to stay at the Ronald McDonald House. Reservations depend on room availability, and must be arranged through a social worker. Phoenix Children's Hospital offers a child-friendly atmosphere. All the Hospital's artwork came through a Community Art Project, resulting in 800 pieces of art. 90 percent of the Hospital's artwork was created by or in cooperation with children under the guidance of professional artists. Our brightly colored array of décor that has practical as well as aesthetic value. Whimsical art is designed to make the Hospital less intimidating, while interactive pieces will keep active children occupied in waiting areas. Textured art is used as a therapeutic sensory tool for children who are sight-impaired, while "story-telling" art in procedural areas provide a distraction for kids coping with pain.
Phoenix Children's Hospital cashier may only accept payments for services provided to Hospital patients. For your convenience, there is an ATM is located across from the Cafeteria, on the first floor. The Hospital does not provide check-cashing services.
Named after Braeden Chamblee who lost his life just nine short days after his birth. Braeden's Playground is a brightly colored 4,500 square foot outdoor play area which includes: a putting green, climbing structure, performance stage, a petting zoo and a Phoenix Suns basketball clubhouse. The Playground is open to patients and healthy brothers and sisters, only when they are with an adult.
The Family Center at Phoenix Children's Hospital offers the many comforts of home. This helps families stay focused on the healing and recovery process of their child. Here you will find a full-sized washer and dryer and showers. Soap, shampoo and towels are available. Families can cook a meal in our kitchen and spend quality time together on our oversized couch. The Family Center also offers a large TV. Ask you child's nurse for more information.
At Your Request Room Service
Phoenix Children's Hospital is proud to bring our patients At Your Request™ Room Service Dining, a great new experience in hospital dining. This service gives you greater control over what you eat and when you eat it. We offer many kid favorites, including pizza, chicken nuggets, and pancakes.
After admission to the Hospital, your child's doctor will order a diet for your child. Patients will then be allowed to choose items, based on that diet, using the menu located in the top drawer of your bedside table. Children who are old enough may place orders themselves. Patients and families are welcomed to ask for food at any time during our regular hours, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The ordering process is very simple. All you do is dial 5-3663 (FOOD) or if you are outside the Hospital dial (602) 546-3663. Our staff member will take your order. A Food Service staff member will guide you or your child through the ordering process, making sure your order offers a balanced diet and meets any restrictions your child may have. Orders may be placed from either inside the Hospital or off site. Please allow 45 minutes for food preparation and delivery.
Cafeteria
Our Cafeteria is located on the first floor just off the main entrance of the Hospital. The menu for the day is posted at the Cafeteria entrance. The Cafeteria does not accept personal checks, but there is a cash machine nearby. VISA and MasterCard are accepted. Microwave ovens are outside the Cafeteria and on most inpatient units. Vending machines with drinks and snacks are also outside the Cafeteria.

Open daily, 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.
• Breakfast is 6:30 to 10:30 a.m.
• Lunch is 11:15 a.m. to 4 p.m.
• Daily Special is 11:15 a.m. to 2 p.m.
• Dinner is 4:30 to 7 p.m.
• Late Night is 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.
Nutrition Services
The clinical nutrition program at Phoenix Children's Hospital provides medical nutrition therapy to both inpatients and outpatients. Our registered dietitians and dietetic technicians work with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate comprehensive care plans, nutrition counseling, and education to meet the needs of patients and their families.
As experts in Pediatric Nutrition, our dietitians are able to provide a variety of services including:

Vending Machines
Vending machines are on the first floor just inside the Hospital's Cafeteria.
The Children's Garden is outside the first floor concourse, near the Surgery Waiting area and Meditation Chapel. The Garden offers a relaxing area for patients and families to enjoy the outdoors. An adult must be with children when visiting the Garden.
Because we know how important the simplest gift can mean to patients, the Gift Shop provides toys, stuffed animals, collectibles, magazines, greeting cards, candy, and a variety of seasonal gift items.

Staffed by Phoenix Children's Hospital employees and volunteers, the Gift Shop offers fast, friendly service and free delivery to patient rooms. The Gift Shop is located just inside the main entrance of the first floor and can be reached by calling (602) 546-0900.
We make it easy to keep in touch with family and friends by providing dial-up Internet in every patient room. Internet access is available in the Teen Room for patients and siblings. Computers with Internet access are also available for families to use in The Emily Center.
The Emily Center is a library that offers information about child health, injury, and illness. It has thousands of books, videos, CDs, and articles for parents and children in English and Spanish. Registered nurses can help you find answers to your questions. The Emily Center also has computers where you can search health databases and the Internet. It is open, without charge, to everyone in Arizona. The Emily Center is on the first floor of the Hospital, between the Cafeteria and the elevators to the Tower. If you want health information delivered to your child's bedside, call (602) 546-1400.
Mail is delivered to your child's room. Outgoing mail can be given to someone at the Nurses' Station, or ask your nurse where to find the nearest mailbox.
Gifts are also delivered to your child's room. Latex balloons are not allowed at the Hospital, since children often choke on balloon pieces. Plants are may not be allowed in certain areas. Check with your nurse to find out if your child can have flowers or a plant.

Built at the suggestion of a former patient, the Peace Room is a soundproof place where kids can find privacy. The Peace Room provides a refreshing break for Hospital stress with its large wall screen patients may choose from a variety of outdoor scenes and soothing sounds. Visits are limited to 10 minutes. Check with your child's nurse about visiting the Peace Room.
The Security Services Department works to provide a safe environment for our patients, families, visitors and staff. Security Officers, identified by blue blazers and white shirts, are available for general assistance and escorts. All staff members and visitors wear identification badges. Please report any security concern to a nurse or directly to Security Services by calling (602) 546-4400.
To protect the health of our patients, visitors and employees Phoenix Children's Hospital is a smoke free campus. Smoking is only allowed by the Gazebo located on the northeast corner of the B Building.
Local calls can be made from patient rooms. Dial 9 to access and outside line. Long-distance calls can only be made with a pre-paid phone card or credit card. If you are using a credit card, dial 0 for operator assistance. To locate the nearest pay phone, please ask a nurse for directions.
A direct-line phone number for each patient room is printed on the bedside phone. Calls to your child's room can also be by call the Hospital's main number (602) 546-1000 and giving the patient's name.
A television is available for each patient bed. Phoenix Children's Hospital provides age-appropriate programming on 12 channels, including Spanish stations that are available 24 hours a day.
Carts with a TV, VCR and Nintendo are also available. Videos may be brought from home or borrowed from The Emily Center. Child Life also offers a limited collection of movies. Please check with your nurse to borrow a movie. No PG-13 movies are allowed in patient rooms where either child is under the age of 13. The Hospital does not allow the viewing of R-rated movies at any time.
Designed just for kids, playrooms offer a child-friendly atmosphere filled with arts and crafts, movies, and toys for all ages. Patients have access to portable PS2 and Gamecube systems on mobile carts that may be moved into your child's room. Children and teens may borrow board games, craft activities, books, and other items for the playrooms and Teen Room to take back to their rooms.
