Descriptions of Trauma Training Housewide In-service Classes are below. To register for a class, please visit our Calendar of Events. For more information about the classes listed below, contact Center for Nursing Excellence or (602) 546-0731.
Objectives
- Nursing education is appropriate for trauma population.
- Must demonstrate education throughout the continuum of care.
- Presentation on s.a.m.e level content is consistent throughout the continuum of care.
- Credentialling process for high risk or low volume trauma associated skill set.
All Registered Nurses that may have contact with a trauma patient will need the core curriculum of information presented to them in some format. This may be achieved by way of housewide in-services or unit based in-services.
The Registered Nurse may make the choice to either complete a full day of the core curriculum or come in on several days to complete all the course content.
The housewide in-services will always be presented in the s.a.m.e format and timeline. When you register, please follow this with an email or a phone call if you only want to attend a specific lecture/s on that day so we can plan accordingly.
Different areas of the hospital will have different core curriculum requirements. The course days are set-up to include all the information that a nurse in general pediatrics or Radiology would require.
Registered nurses in the Emergency Department and PICU will have additional requirements. Please see your manager or educator for the additional information.
Registered Nurses in the OR/PACU area only need to attend the first three lectures of the housewide in-services, from 8 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.
