Child Neurology Residency - Letter from the Chief Resident
Dear Prospective Child Neurology Residents,
As chief resident of the child neurology program, I am delighted to tell you that your experience here will be one of the finest in the country. Our institute is home to some of the most talented physicians in the field of child neurology and the combined excellence of Phoenix Children’s Hospital and St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center make this training experience one of the most diverse and extensive program exposures to neurosciences available.
The first year of training is balanced with development of fundamental knowledge in the field of neurology. The exposure to common neurological disorders is vast and there are also rare disorders that are commonly identified at this institution.
The last two years of training focus on child neurological disorders with ample opportunities for basic and subspecialty exposure. Residents are also allowed opportunities to present at nationally recognized conferences.
Throughout the residency at Barrow Neurological Institute at Phoenix Children's Hospital, you will notice a strong sense of camaraderie between adult and child neurology as part of our residency culture, as well as the emphasis on academic success. This residency provides house officers with the tools to become confident academic clinicians and many continue their training with fellowship opportunities throughout the nation.
I hope that you will seriously consider our professional training.
Clarimar Borrero-Mejias, M.D.
