ROAR Wish List
The Reach Out and Read program at Phoenix Children's Hospital is need of new books to provide to children in the Outpatient Center. Your donations of gift certificates or items will be greatly appreciated.
Cash Donations
A minimum of $10,000 annually is needed to support this program.
Funds restricted for the purpose of buying new books from our National Reach Out and Read approved list of Scholastic books. These books can be purchased by us at 50% of the list price. These are the books pediatricians give to children and use to assess a child's development level, and to educate parents about how their children use books at each age.
In-Kind Donations
New toddler and young child books. We distribute about 5,000 of these annually, and they are collected only by donation.
- These books are given to all children visiting the General Pediatric, Dermatology, Rehabilitation, and Newborn Follow-up outpatient clinics.
- Volunteers read to children in the waiting areas of these clinics. Children are allowed to choose one book to take home to read. Parents are shown how to read or share books with their child, and are educated on the benefits children receive when they read to their child.
This wish list is supported by the Brent Shernoff Toy Fund.
