Andres

  

Andres was born 100 days early, and spent the first 100 days of his life in the Phoenix Children’s Newborn Intensive Care Unit. He was also diagnosed with hydrocephalus.  Today, Andres is meeting all of his milestones and developing normally for a child his age.

 

Below is an interview with his mom, Renny.

 

 

 

What are some of Andres' favorite things?

Giving kisses and punching dad in the face. Andres loves cheerios and stroller rides.

 

 

How has Andres' diagnosis affected everyone in the family?

It has made us more grateful.

 

 

How long was Andres hospitalized?

He spent the first three months of his life at Phoenix Children's Hospital.

 

 

What was the aspect of care at Phoenix Children's you were most grateful for?

The compassion of the nursing staff. All of the nurses really helped us as parents feel safe about the "other 23 hours."

 

 

What is the most difficult aspect of Andres being hospitalized for so long?

Time, travel, and missing work.

 

 

How has Andres' early struggles changed your philosophy of life?
