Brandy

At 10 years old, Brandy was struck by a drunk driver and suffered severe swelling of the brain, a spinal cord injury, two broken arms and ankles, broken ribs, and a punctured lung. The accident left her paralyzed from the eyes down, with no voice or ability to swallow.

Brandy had to teach herself to breathe again and required round-the-clock care. Brandy learned to communicate by the family reading her lips and her condition didn't affect her ability to learn.

She graduated from high school with honors. Brandy passed away last year following complications.
